Jim Glover - Artist

Jim Glover was influenced by his father, local artist Jack Glover, from childhood. Early on, Jim got involved with bird watching; his studies in art and zoology at Kent State and Ohio State honed his skills as a naturalist and illustrator before he began his 34-year career with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. During that time, Jim designed State Fair displays, illustrated and designed brochures, booklets and maps, produced paintings for numerous posters, developed interpretive nature displays at Old Woman Creek State Nature Preserve, and served as art director and occasional writer for the Ohio State Parks magazine.

Since starting the "second half of his life," Jim has become intrigued with Impressionism. This interest has profoundly influenced his art, leading Jim to delight in the implying of detail in his paintings rather than clearly defining every feather or leaf. Jim says, "I feel like there is life, a part of me, in each painting now!" Jim is drawn to the beauty of nature, both in the landscape and its wildlife, in his art. And in watching the early morning sunlight play across the natural world, his heart is turned back to the One who created it!
