As a child, my favorite things to do were to play in the woods, draw, dream and allow my imagination to take me to far-off places. I received my B.F.A. in illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design and I continue to observe nature, create art and let my imagination soar. After illustrating many award winning children’s books I am now inspired to interpret and redefine the breathtaking visual symphony I observe when I’m painting landscapes. Using collage and paint, I start with a limited palette and use the languages of texture, light, pattern and color to interpret and redefine relationships originally created by nature. I emphasize individual elements in my assemblages to create a new depth and synergy.

In my paintings I have chosen to step back from the realism I once embraced for a more personal expression. Capturing what I see in this lively way gives me a sense of place and spirit. I visually listen to the landscape and become immersed in its lyricism. My purpose is to explore the depths of my visions and to give the viewer an enticing interpretation of the landscape as spirit.
