ARTIST: NANCY JOHNSTON

Switching from pen and ink drawings to watercolor some years ago, was like turning on a magic light. My aim since has been to try to put impressions of color and light onto paper. Studying under Leland McClelland, Sharon Hildebrand, Don Dodrill, Vivian Ripley, Merry Gant Norris and joining the Upper Arlington Senior Center watercolor classes taught by Janet Waggoner and others since.  Special classes were enjoyed with Charles Reid, Homer Hacker,  Arleta Pech and Ted Vassar.   I've learned more and more - not copying, but enjoying each artist's style and ideas. The students in the classes seem to help bring about an atmosphere of creativity. Thanks go to all my teachers, classmates, friends, and family for all their encouragement. Upper Arlington has been my home for the last 40-some years. Being a member of the Upper Arlington Art League, the Worthington Area Art League and the Central Ohio Watercolor Society has kept me interested, challenged and on my toes.
