Steven Walker: Well it's demo and sale
time again! If you've ever been interested in owning a Steven
Walker painting then this is the time to buy. I'll be at the
McConnell Arts Center (MAC) in Worthington, OH this Sunday (Dec.
11th from 12 to 5pm) with several small paintings (like the one
above) available for sale at discounted prices. They make great
holiday gifts! In addition to the sale, I'll be giving a
painting demonstration along with a few other artists in the
lounge area at the MAC starting at noon. If I finish the first
demo, don't worry I'll start another one. The event is free and
open to the public. See you there.

J. Robert
Reed, one of our artists entered a contest with some of his art.
He sent the following for us. Note there is an attachment of a
picture of his art. Here's an extract from the Korean Embassy
Web site that I entered their art contest earlier as
follows:Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of
Korea(Washington, D.C. July 1, 2011) – The Korean Cultural
Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea is proud to
announce the 2011 Taekwondo Essay & Art Contest, a nationwide
search for exceptional writing and artwork that capture the
unique personal experiences and spirit of Taekwondo, Korea’s own
martial art. Now in its third year, the essay contest has been a
key embassy program for promoting and reaffirming the special
bond between the United States and the Republic of Korea by
bringing together people from diverse backgrounds with a common
passion. This year, the program has expanded its scope to
include a visual art contest category. This complete guide and
application form for submissions can be downloaded from

"Where did our
summer go?" If you are like me, you've probably said that
several times in the last week! Like it or not, kids
(grandkids?) are back in school, pools are closing, and the
weather patterns will soon shift to autumnal rhythms. But, hey!
Instead, let's CELEBRATE OUR SUMMER! on September 21 at 7 p.m.
at the McConnell Arts Center. WAAL's first meeting of the year
has become a traditional time to bring along our memories of the
summer in the form of a painting, a photograph, a
sculpture--whatever brings to mind a highlight from your
vacation, no matter the form. Any member who is willing can
share their creation and it's story--without critiquing or
comments from other members. Sort of an "Open Mic for Art!"
So get busy preparing or "stirring to the
top" that special something that speaks to you of the Summer of
2011. We should have a great time reliving our own story and
hearing everyone else share theirs. See you the 21st at 7 p.m.
at the MAC (McConnell Arts Center) at 777 Evening Street in
Worthington!
