Artist: Phyllis Tilton
After a wonderful career of 43
years as a pharmacist, Phyllis followed her love of clay.
Working in clay is an obsession and a passion. Quoting an
internationally know potter, Warren McKenzie: "The challenge
is to do the thing you have to do because you are in love
with it and can't do anything else. Not because you want to
become famous or rich but because you will be unhappy if you
can't do it. It is not something you can turn on and off."
Phyllis says she feels the need to try all methods of
working in different clays, trying different methods of
firing, and different finishes for the pottery. With no
"formal" degree in ceramics, she has attended classes, gone
to workshops, and read many ceramic books and magazines.
Her work continues to grow and change.
